Volkswagen Golf Mk6 was unveiled at the 2008 Paris motor Show. This is an improvement of the current PQ35 platform of the Golf Mk5. The vehicle has been designed by Walter de’Silva, company’s chief designer, who drew inspiration from earlier version of the model from Mk1 and Mk4. The salient features of the present version are its superb aerodynamic design, supporting fuel efficiency and lesser noise level in comparison to the previous models. Mk5 had to face severe criticism due to lower level of interior trimming value as compared to MK4. This point was kept in mind to organize the interior of MK6 to compete Mk4 in this regard including the user friendly quality of Mk5. The company hopes to make the car at a lesser cost than earlier models and the benefit would be passed on the customers in turn.

The introduction of Turbocharged Direct Injection diesel engines that uses the common rail direct injection has been made in place of the old Pumpe Duse (PD) Unit Injector system.
