Bentley Supersports Ice Speed Record

Geneva Motor Show presents Bentley Supersports "Ice Speed Record" Convertible, Limited Edition and the celebration of the ice speed record beaten by a few days ago Supersports Continental convertible, driven by Juha Kankkunen. The car has reached 330.695 km / h with a distance of 16.5 kilometers, above the ice layer 70 cm and a temperature of -30 degrees Celsius.

Its twin-turbo W12 with 640 hp which is supported by the E85 bioethanol. The "Ice Speed Record" will be built only 100 individuals who are motivated by either W12 able to provide 800 Nm of torque which is managed by Quickshift 6-speed automatic transmission. encouraging performance with 0-100 km / closed in just 3.8 seconds and capable of touching 160 km / h in 9.5 seconds.

Injection unit energy than "normal" W12 ensured by a new intake and exhaust systems and a new mapping of the electronic control unit and more efficient intercooler. Recovery 80-120 km / h in 2.5 seconds set on fire. Like the car that broke the record, this limited edition can be activated by gasoline, ethanol and a combination of both.

Responsible FlexFuel technology that enables a drastic reduction of pollutant emissions. As usual, the transmission uses 4 × 4 system with Torsen center differential (asymmetric torque distribution front 40% and 60% in the rear). This car is based on alloy rims 20 '10-spoke with 275/35 Pirelli tires.

Braking system is structured around instead of carbon-ceramic discs 420mm front and 356 rear caliper bitten by pumping the front to 8. Three colors available for the body, (Beluga, quartzite and Arctic White) combined with three-piece hood-color Dark Grey Metallic.

Bentley Arnage, Technology Frontier

Bentley Motors continues the intensive development of its flagship Arnage range with the introduction of a major program enhancements for powertrain and chassis Model Year 2007. The famous V8 engine Arnage 6.75 liters now grown up to 500bhp and mated to a six-speed automatic transmission performance advantage, driving dynamics and refinement. Changes in the powertrain equipped with a smooth exterior, interior and under-bonnet design cues.

The key to improving performance is the most powerful version of Bentley's legendary V8 engine ever built at the company headquarters in Crewe, England. In the model of performance-oriented Arnage T, a twin-turbocharged V8 engine produces 500bhp revised surprising and 1000Nm torque - 11percent increase in power and torque increase of 14 percent on top models come out. Twins with the latest ZF six-speed transmission automatic, which uses state-of management of computer-the-art, performance and refinement are optimized at all speeds. In the Arnage R and RL models the new engine driven from 400 to 450bhp, while torque rises from 835 to 875Nm.

500bhp Arnage is a true driver's car with much higher performance and provides a driving experience that is more useful. Improvement of refinement and comfort to 450bhp Arnage R are equally striking, while the long-wheelbase RL shares the same power output increases with the increase of the rear passenger cabin.

Bentley 6.75-liter V8 engine is the center of the development program of 2007 model Arnage. Extraordinary machine, the basic design which has served Bentley models proudly for nearly five decades, has been widely reengineered to provide, in Arnage T specification, 500bhp and 1000Nm torque - figures that ensure that the legendary Bentley wave of torque and even more amazing than ever. Top speed of the Arnage T has risen from 168mph/270km/h to 179mph/288km/h, while increasing the maximum speed 450bhp Arnage R and RL's with 13mph/21km/h to 168mph/270km/h.

When the first V8 engine was built in the1950s, the design brief unwittingly benefit of later generations of Bentley engineers. That is a very forward thinking design with all aluminum construction-, a five main-bearing crankshaft, and well-supported camshaft. Steps taken then laid the foundation for the longevity of the engine.

"People might raise an eyebrow when they were told that the V8 engine in 2007 Model Year Arnage they first used by Bentley in 1959," says Bentley Motors' Director, Powertrain and Chassis, Brian Gush. "But the reality is the basic design was so good that we have been able to continue to improve it for nearly 50 years.

"One of the reasons the engine has been developed with success is the position of the exhaust valves, high in the cylinder head, originally designed for rapid heat dissipation to help engine cooling. Decades later it meant that we could heat the catalytic converter because the shortest path from valves to catalysts , Which favors emissions. This is just one reason why this brilliant engine lives on today. "

The first 6.25-liter engine that produced around 200 horsepower - the new 2007 Model Year 6.75-liter V8 has more than twice that output, with 500bhp and torque 1000Nm to T. Arnage That is the introduction of turbocharging and intercooling in the early 1980s that saw step-change increase in the performance of a V8, and the latest engine program is no different. Two new low-inertia turbochargers operate with far greater efficiency at lower engine speeds - they reach maximum turbine speed in half the time of the previous unit - thereby ensuring significantly reduced turbo lag and extraordinary wave of torque at any revs.

In addition, reprofiled camshaft with an all-new system of roller tappet provides revised valve timing and substantially improved repair. These changes also provide for increased power, enhanced durability and ensure compliance with European EU IV and U.S. LEV II standards. Although the 6.75-liter engine 2007MY producing around 300 horsepower more than 1959 predecessor, fuel consumption is only 60 percent of the original and thanks to the sophisticated fuel injection and exhaust controls, its emissions output is an incredible 99 percent lower than Bentley's first V8.

Bentley Continental GTC Convertible and the Speed

The 2010 Continental GTC is a 2-door, 4-passenger luxury convertible, available in two trims, the Convertible and the Speed. Upon introduction, the Convertible is equipped with a standard 6.0-liter, W12, 552-horsepower, turbo engine that achieves 10-mpg in the city and 17-mpg on the highway. The Speed is equipped with a standard 6.0-liter, W12, 600-horsepower, turbo engine that achieves 10-mpg in the city and 17-mpg on the highway. A 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard on both trims.

Bentley's 2010 Continental GTC Speed belongs to that rare class of vehicles to which the standard array of automotive superlatives simply does not apply. After all, how can one adequately convey the sensation of accelerating a 5500-pound, leather-clad convertible from rest to 60 mph in a mere 4.5 seconds? Of hitting 195 mph with the top down. Of returning to a standstill via the world's largest production automobile brakes-eight-piston calipers and 16.5-inch carbon-ceramic discs?

Though essentially a performance variant of the Continental GTC convertible, the Speed is not some stripped-down racer. Sure it has drilled aluminum pedals, but there's no stereo delete option here. Bentley went the other direction and serves up an 1100-watt Naim audio system -- the most powerful available in any production car. The knurled-chrome and leather-paneled gearshift lever of the six-speed ZF transmission further indicate a focus on fine motoring as well as high performance. So do the turned aluminum fascias and use of 12 quilted cowhides to line the sumptuous four-passenger cocoon.

With communicative steering and four-way-adjustable air suspension, this all-wheel-drive heavyweight ducks and weaves like the World's Greatest. Even when driven hard, understeer has been suppressed; it surfaces only in moments of extreme driver foolishness before being quashed by the deftly tuned ESP.
Still need an easy summary of how the GTC Speed feels? Ultra-smooth, sinfully rich, and even more delectable when whipped. Kinda like, well, you know.

Bentley Continental
In February 2009, Bentley announced the production of Bentley Continental Supersports. The car was unveiled at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show, announced to be available in autumn 2009 worldwide, while North American cars would be available by summer 2010.

The first Bentley capable of running on both petrol (gasoline) and biofuel (E85 ethanol). The car's 6.0 litre W12 engine was rated 630 metric horsepower (463 kW; 621 bhp) at 6,000 rpm and 800 newton metres (590 ft·lbf) at 1,700-5,600 rpm - using either fuel. The car has 0 to 100 kilometres per hour (0.0 to 62.1 mph) acceleration of 3.9 seconds, 0 to 160 kilometres per hour (0.0 to 99.4 mph) acceleration of 8.9 seconds, top speed of 329 kilometres per hour (204.4 mph), making it the fastest and the most powerful production Bentley ever. The Supersports is already known as the best handling Bentley. Bentley says the supersports can deliver 1.29 g forces on a 300-foot (91 m) skid pad, as compared to its sibling the Continental GT speed which can perform up to .98 g forces on a 300-foot (91 m) skidpad.

It includes a revised ZF 6HP26A tiptronic automatic with "Quickshift" system that reduces shift times by 50%, and enables double downshifts.[citation needed] The car uses a Torsen T-3 centre differential for the 40:60 rear-biased torque split for the four-wheel drive system. Other changes include revised Continuous Damping Control (CDC),[citation needed] 20-inch lightweight alloy wheels (with increased 25 mm (1.0 in) offset on rear wheels) with 275/35 ZR20 Pirelli Ultra High Performance tires, advanced Bosch Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) with switchable Dynamic Mode, Carbon fibre-reinforced Silicon Carbide (C/SiC) ceramic disc brakes (the largest and most powerful brakes ever fitted to a production car),[citation needed] 110 kilograms (243 lb) weight saving over Continental GT Speed, automatic retractable spoiler (deploys at 80 km/h (50 mph)). US model has MSRP of $267,000, with early vehicles not having E85 capability, which would be available in summer of 2010 for US market.

In April 2010, Bentley announced a convertible version of the Continental Supersports. Pricing starts at $280,400, and will go on sale in the Summer of 2010. The convertible gets the same engine as the coupe, but will receive a revised version of the ZF 6HP26 transmission with "Quickshift," cutting shift times by 50% and enabling double downshifts. The convertible also gets new, lightweight 20-inch alloy wheels that are 22 lb (10.0 kg) lighter than the standard wheel.
